I'm continuing working on my dissertation this summer, and am in the midst of data collection for both my dissertation studies. :D
I am a fourth year doctoral candidate at the University of Michigan School of Information, where I am working on my PhD in Information Science and advised by Dr. Patricia Garcia. I am pursuing a graduate certificate in Digital Studies, as well as a graduate certificate in Science, Technology, and Society (STS) studies. I am an affiliated researcher with the Center for Ethics, Society, and Computing (ESC), and a member of the Just/Tech Lab. I was previously affiliated with the Marginality in Socio-technical Systems (MiSTS) research group.
My work is situated in the fields of Social Computing, Women and Gender Studies (WGS), and Feminist Science, Technology and Society studies (STS), primarily investigating the connections between technology, power, bodily autonomy, and reproductive (in)justice.
I graduated from the University of Michigan with my Master of Health Informatics and Master of Urban and Regional Planning with a focus on Data Analytics and UX Research in May 2021.
My work has been published in CSCW. I am a recipient of the Margaret Mann Award (’21), the top graduate student award UMSI grants for future promise through evidence of accomplishment and service at UMSI. I was also selected as a UMSI Merit Scholar when beginning my doctoral program.
Prior to completing my graduate degree, I received my Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature with a minor in Arab and Muslim American Studies. I enjoy trying new recipes, spending time with my family, and exploring new cities and amusement parks with my loved ones.
